In October of 1997, Time magazine did a cover-story about America
Online -- including a one-page profile of AOL Watch creator David
Cassel. Seizing the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity -- to publish a
domain name in magazine read by millions -- Cassel registered the domain
name "aolwatch" -- and received thousands of visits.
For the first edition of AOL Watch, Cassel selected one of the most
powerful stories about AOL -- illustrating one man's struggle against the
giant corporation's policy.
moment. The months since have shown AOL's policy
wasn't an isolated incident. AOL still hosts a web page for the KKK --
though removing others as "offensive". Tomorrow, "AOL Watch
Showcase" concludes with funny -- and scary -- acts of AOL
censorship.
Plus a few surprises...
