Amid all the problems -- including yet-another mail outage -- users are realizing AOL can hit glitches at any time, even two days before Halloween. Did Steve Case really have the gall to claim AOL might become "the most respected company on earth?" Instead by 2004 the company's name had become a joke. When a robot programmer in The Stepford Wives brags he'd previously worked at AOL, Nicole Kidman quips "Is THAT why the women here are so slow?!"
